Warum verrußt die Kaminscheibe?

Es kann unterschiedliche Ursachen haben, wenn plötzlich der Durchblick fehlt. Meist ist ein Bedienfehler Auslöser für das Verrußen der Kaminofen Scheibe und nicht ein Defekt des Kamins. Ein häufig auftretender Fehler ist die Verbrennung von zu feuchtem Holz.

Die Restfeuchte muss unter 20 % liegen. Ansonsten verbrennt das Holz schlecht.

Dann schlagen sich viele Rückstände an der Ofenscheibe nieder und schwärzen dessen Oberfläche. Ursache kann auch eine falsche Brennstoffgröße oder die verkehrte Anordnung des Brennmaterials im Kamin sein. Eine Falscheinstellung der Luftregler oder eine unzureichende Zufuhr von Verbrennungsluft bzw. Verbrennungssauerstoff kann aber genauso zu einem verrußten Kaminglas führen.

 

Wie bleibt die Kaminscheibe sauber?

Eine Variante, das Kaminglas sauber zu halten, ist, es nach jeder Benutzung des Kamins zu reinigen. Diese Methode ist nicht nur zeitaufwendig und nervig. Sie verhindert auch nicht, dass das feuerfeste Glas während des gemütlichen Kaminabends verrußt und der frei Blick auf das Flammenspiel getrübt wird. Besser ist es deshalb dafür Sorge zu tragen, dass die Kaminscheibe erst gar nicht verrußt und sich keine Niederschläge auf dem Kaminglas bilden.

Eine Möglichkeit ist die Versiegelung der Kaminscheibe mit „Suwelit“ oder „Nanatol“.

Außerdem sollte die Feuerstelle richtig bedient werden, sodass sämtliche Fehlerquellen als Ursache für ein Verrußen der Kaminglasscheibe ausgeschlossen werden. Dann muss das Ofenglas weniger gereinigt werden. Es sollte also darauf geachtet werden, dass nur Holz mit einer geringen Restfeuchtigkeit (< 20 %) im Kamin verbrannt wird.

Beim Anheizen sollte das Holz nicht nur glimmen, sondern schon richtig flackern. Wichtig ist hierbei auch die richtige Anordnung des Brennmaterials im Kaminofen.

Beim Anzünden sollten das Kleinholz über den Scheiten platziert werden. Außerdem sollten Hohlbrände vermieden werden. Besser ist es, wenn das Holz im Glutbett liegend verbrennt. Verfügt der Kaminofen über eine Sekundärbelüftung, muss diese beim Verbrennen von Holz geöffnet bleiben.

Gleichzeitig muss die Primärluftzufuhr nach der Anheizphase geschlossen oder sehr weit gedrosselt werden.

Es gibt verschiedene Möglichkeiten, die Kaminscheibe zu reinigen.

Für alle Varianten gilt: Das Ofenglas darf nur im kalten Zustand gereinigt werden.

Nicht verwendet werden dürfen Scheuermittel oder kratzende Bürsten. Sonst könnte die Spezialbeschichtung des Kaminofen Glases beschädigt werden. Es gibt spezielle Kaminglasreiniger sowie einen einfachen Hausfrauentrick, mit denen sich verrußte Kaminscheiben reinigen lassen.

Ein Tipp…

Für den Hausfrauentrick werden lediglich eine Schüssel mit Wasser und eine alte Zeitung (keine Zeitschriften oder Magazine) oder Küchenkrepp benötigt. Der Kaminofen sollte noch nicht gereinigt bzw. ausgefegt sein, da auch etwas von der kalten Asche benötigt wird. Wichtig ist, dass die Asche vollständig abgekühlt ist und sich keine Glut mehr im Ofen befindet. Anderenfalls besteht Verletzungsgefahr.

Die Reinigung der Ofenscheibe erfolgt in wenigen Schritten:

  • Von der Zeitung ein bis zwei Blätter oder etwas Küchenkrepps leicht feucht machen.
  • Das feuchte Papier in die kalte Asche im Kamin tunken. Achtung: Die Asche muss von verbranntem Holz stammen, Asche von anderen festen Brennmaterialien kann Kratzer hinterlassen.
  • Die verrußte Kaminglasscheibe nun mit der Zeitung bzw. dem Küchenkrepp ohne Druck abreiben.
  • Bei sehr hartnäckigen Verschmutzungen, können die Schritte 1. bis 3. wiederholt werden.
  • Zum Abschluss wird das Kaminglas mit einem weichen Tuch und handelsüblichen Glasreiniger nachpoliert. Hierbei sollte der Glasreiniger auf das Tuch gegeben werden, damit es nicht zu einer Beschädigung des Ofenlacks kommt.

Praktisch an dieser Reinigungsmethode ist, dass die Zeitung bzw. das Küchenkrepp nach dem vollständigen Trocknen beim nächsten Brennvorgang verbrannt werden kann. Lässt sich das Kaminglas auf diese Weise nicht reinigen, kann die Glasscheibe für den Kaminofen mit einem speziellen Kaminscheibenreiniger gereinigt werden.

Hierbei ist Folgendes zu beachten:

  • Immer weiche Lappen zum Reinigen des Kaminglases benutzen, keine kratzigen Schwämme oder Bürsten.
  • Den Kaminglasreiniger immer auf das Tuch und nicht direkt auf das Kaminglas sprühen.
  • Beim Abwischen der Ofenscheibe den Korpus und die Dichtungen nicht mit dem eingesprühten Lappen berühren, um Beschädigungen zu vermeiden.
  • Sollten doch einmal die Dichtungen mit dem Kaminscheibenreiniger oder Wasser in Berührung gekommen sein, dann sollte darauf geachtete werden, dass diese vor dem Schließen der Kamintür vollständig getrocknet sind.

Nützliches Zubehör

Bei einem konventionellen Kamin fällt bedauerlicherweise eine Menge Asche an. Um langfristig Freude an seinem Kamin zu haben, muss die Asche regelmäßig und gründlich entfernt werden.

Eine erhebliche Erleichterung stellt ein Aschesauger dar.

Wie oft sollte ich mein Kaminglas reinigen?

Bei modernen Kaminen sorgt oftmals eine Art Scheibenhinterlüftung durch Sekundärluft dafür, dass das Kaminglas von innen nicht beschmutzt wird.

Die Luft zwischen der Kaminscheibe und dem Feuer verhindert weitestgehend den Niederschlag von Verbrennungsrückständen und austretenden Harzen an die Kaminofen Glasscheibe.

So sollte es klappen…

Damit dieses System funktioniert, muss allerdings die Zufuhr der Primärluft nach der Anheizphase sehr weit gedrosselt oder ganz geschlossen sein.

Bei einer Befeuerung mit Kohle funktioniert das nicht, da diese mit Luft von unten verbrannt wird.

Dazu muss die Primärluftzufuhr geöffnet bleiben. Aber auch bei der Befeuerung mit Holz hat das System Grenzen. Diese Grenzen sind unter anderem dann erreicht, wenn zu feuchtes Holz verbrannt wird oder die Luftregler falsch eingestellt sind.

Zu beachten ist…

Ist der Kamin nicht mit einem solchen System ausgestattet, sollte das Ofenglas regelmäßig gereinigt werden.

Das bedeutet, dass die Kaminscheibe nach jeder Benutzung feucht abgewischt werden sollte.

Ansonsten sollte der Putzlappen nach Bedarf geschwungen werden. Ist die Kaminscheibe verrußt, sollte sie allerdings spätestens gereinigt werden. Sonst kann das nächste Kaminfeuer nicht richtig beobachtet und genossen werden. Denn hinter der schwarz „getönten“ Scheibe ist es ziemlich gut getarnt. Außerdem besteht die Gefahr, dass der Schmutz in das Kaminglas eingebrannt wird. Dann bleibt nur noch die Möglichkeit, eine neue Kaminscheibe zu kaufen.
